Where: In the village of Manique, on Portugal’s west coast, 5km from Cascais and 18km from Lisbon international airport.
What: A listed estate, dating back to the 17th century, that has entertained a number of royal families who settled in Portugal after the second world war, including the kings of Italy, Spain and Romania. Set in about 20 acres, the 3,200 sq metre palace is in need of renovation and has 13 bedrooms, a number of annexes, a chapel, and an acre of formal gardens.
