Where: In the village of Manique, on Portugal’s west coast, 5km from Cascais and 18km from Lisbon international airport.

What: A listed estate, dating back to the 17th century, that has entertained a number of royal families who settled in Portugal after the second world war, including the kings of Italy, Spain and Romania.
