The Accounting@UNC degree will be 15 months in length compared with the 12-month campus-based programme, but will use the same admissions standards, curriculum and professors. The online accounting degree will be delivered using the same technology as MBA@UNC, provided by 2U, the cloud-based software company.
Kenan-Flagler dean Douglas Shackelford is a Carolina accounting graduate.
“I am proud that 30 years later we are again leading the way and again using technology to increase access to a UNC education,” he says. “With a long tradition of excellence in accounting education and one of the very best accounting departments in the world, UNC Kenan-Flagler is uniquely positioned to offer the premier online Mac programme.”
Kenan-Flagler launched its first online degree programme, MBA@UNC, in 2011 and today there are 550 students enrolled on the degree. The business school plans to enrol its first students on Accounting@UNC in July 2015.
