The Malian featherweight is on typically breezy form, musing on the attractions of home after its civil war. Toumani Diabaté and Bassekou Kouyaté fortify “Terere” with kora and ngoni, and Master Soumi raps over “Balon Tan”; their good work is undone by the lamentable “L.A.”, an account of a Californian drinking session with the chorus “One Shot/Two Shots/Three Shots … Tequila, tequila make me happy”.
