Growing interest in homeware is fuelled by the country’s emerging middle class

China has a long history of craftsmanship and carpentry. Some of the world’s oldest ceramics, jade sculpture and bronze work came from the country. Design in the contemporary sense, though, is up and coming. Until recently few outside a nascent elite could afford to invest in their homes, but, with a rapidly growing middle class, Chinese design tastes are evolving fast.
