Over the years, Nell Minow, editor of The Corporate Library, a corporate governance newsletter, has been a sharp critic of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Last year, Minow gave the media company an “F”, her lowest grade, blasting it for outsized executive compensation and shoddy succession plans, among other perceived shortcomings.
News Corp won’t have to worry about her any more, thanks to the corporate governance gadfly’s side career in film. Each week, Minow morphs into the Movie Mom, reviewing films that are suitable for children and families. Minow, a onetime film student who went on to law school, launched her website in 1995 after observing parents agonise over the lack of family-friendly movies available at her local video store. She believes films should provide a “teachable moment for families”.
