Lawrence Harris is professor of finance and business economics at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.

His research, teaching and consulting work covers regulatory and practitioner issues in trading and investment management. Prof Harris has published articles on trading rules, transaction costs and market regulations. He has written many publications including Trading and exchanges: Market microstructure for practitioners (OUP 2002).

He was previously chief economist and director of the office of economic analysis at the US Securities and Exchange Commission. He has a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago.
