Leadership changes at Arizona State and Vanderbilt

Amy Hillman is to step up as dean at Arizona State University’s Carey school of business in March. Currently the school’s executive dean, Prof Hillman will replace Bob Mittelstaedt, who made his name at the Wharton school of the University of Pennsylvania before becoming dean at ASU.
Prof Hillman, a strategy specialist, worked in retail and manufacturing before teaching at the University of Western Ontario, Michigan State University, Johannes Kepler University in Austria, Texas A&M University and Trinity University. She holds a PhD from Texas A&M University.
Meanwhile in Nashville Tennessee, the Owen school at Vanderbilt University has announced that its dean James Bradford is stepping down in 2013 after eight years in the job.
An experienced businessman and lawyer by training, Prof Bradford was president and chief executive of United Glass Corporation and AFG Industries before heading for academia. Whilst at Vanderbilt he has diversified the number of programmes taught, introducing specialised masters degrees in finance, accounting and healthcare management and a healthcare MBA.
Prof Bradford recently became chairman of the Board of Directors for the Graduate Management Admissions Council, which administers the GMAT test.
