Cambridge Major Laboratories, the Germantown, Wisconsin-based chemistry contract research organization serving the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, is running a sale process advised by Jefferies, a source familiar with the company and an industry source told mergermarket.

Cambridge, which has been owned by Arlington Capital Partners since 2007, has adjusted EBITDA of USD 24.1m and had USD 70.3m in estimated 2011 revenue, the industry source said.

Two weeks after the acquisition by Arlington, Cambridge acquired ChemShop BV in Weert, Netherlands, a European supplier of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) development services.

An industry banker said strategic buyers such as India’s Piramal, Sun Pharma or Jubilant could be interested in Cambridge, according to a previous report published by this news service.

Cambridge Major declined to comment. Jefferies and Arlington did not return calls seeking comment.

Cambridge Major produces pharmaceutical intermediates and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), from early preclinical development to commercial manufacture, according to its web site.
