If this is 40, what’s the fuss? Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) have it all: big house, beautiful kids and enough Apple products to make a kind of postmodern fort. But a host of first-world problems threaten their cosy idyll: Debbie’s music taste infuriates Pete and, much to her chagrin, he refuses to start watching his weight. Ineffably and endlessly (133 mins) dull, this is Apatow’s worst yet. It will have you pining for the easy laughs of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and cursing the day Hollywood’s top comic writer advanced to “adult” themes.
