The University of Maryland’s Smith school of business and the Mediterranean School of Business in Tunisia have launched a 10-month, part-time masters programme in information systems and technology, to be taught in Tunis.
The programme targets aspiring and practising managers from a variety of industries and functional areas including finance, marketing, human resources and information systems. The curriculum provides a solid base in core business principles with an emphasis on globalisation, entrepreneurship and technology. Classes began this month (September).
This month the Smith school has also launched a specialised masters degree in accounting, with around 40 participants signed up for the first course. The Executive MS in Accounting has been designed to meet the need for accountants with advanced degrees and internal audit specialisation following the institution of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Classes meet on Saturdays for 15 months.
Maryland has also launched a customised Executive MBA programme for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), the technical services company. Some 34 full-time SAIC employees are enrolled on the 20-month programme which is delivered primarily on-site at SAIC facilities in McLean, Virginia.
The school launched an open enrolment Evening Executive MBA programme in July this year.
