Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen, 2013
So this is what happens when a bunch of stoners conceive a film idea – and those stoners just happen to be multimillionaire stars.
Seth Rogen reteams with James Franco, Jonah Hill and co for a high-concept comedy with the emphasis on high. Apocalypse descends on LA, leaving them trapped in luxury purgatory (Franco’s pad). There are sinkholes and demons to contend with, as well as horrors not covered in Revelations: who gets the last Milky Way; a visit from superslob Danny McBride; how to maintain a bromance in the face of extreme adversity. This is high-budget, low-brow comedy with some big wheezy laughs.
