Marcus Miller

Tutu Revisited

(Dreyfus Jazz)

Miles Davis’s recently re-issued 1986 album Tutu was a dark-toned masterpiece that defined the final years of the late trumpeter’s career. Bassist Marcus Miller wrote and produced the best bits, and once again gets to their brooding heart on this recently recorded live double CD & DVD.

Miller underwrites the tight-knit 80s jams with super-sharp beats and broadens the repertoire with a ballad highlight on bass clarinet. The fluent Christian Scott and Alex Han are equally inspired on moody trumpet and sour-toned sax.
