Pierce Brosnan in a rom-com set in the Med? Mamma Mia, here we go again ... Yet while Susanne Bier’s film has a whiff of that frothy Abba-fest, it is offset by Festen-like angst and subtitles. Here the Danish director of In a Better World (2010), which also starred Trine Dyrholm, ventures into Four Weddings territory. Dyrholm (who was in Festen too) radiates empathy as a breast-cancer patient whose daughter gets pre-nuptial jitters. Brosnan does his usual smooth, world-weary turn – but at least he doesn’t sing.
