Afrophile Australian/American indie duo draws another record from sessions during the Malian political crisis

Last year’s Troubles saw the Afrophile Australian/American indie duo at the core of Dirtmusic record in Bamako during the Malian political crisis. Lion City, drawn from the same sessions, plays like a dub version of that album: similar material mirrors, reverberates; guitars drop in and out.

Several members of Tamikrest add slow Desert Blues to “Movin’ Careful”, and Aminata Wassidjé Traoré’s striking singing holds “Narha” together.
