Brighton duo Rizzle Kicks are the cheeky chappies of UK rap, a kids TV-friendly update of their hometown’s messy “big beat” scene of the 1990s.
The ancestral link is signalled by Norman “Fatboy Slim” Cook’s cameo production role on their hit debut Stereo Typical and its follow-up Roaring 20s – an engaging concoction melding chunky old-school breakbeats with super-catchy hooks, chatty rapping and a grab-bag of sampled styles, like the bravura mash-up of mariachi music and rave-pop on “Skip to the Good Bit”.
