Long unavailable, this 1961 battle-of-the-sexes comedy is dusted off to the delight of Terry-Thomas completists but probably few besides.
The gap-toothed bounder plays Reggie, a charlatan travelogue writer whose wife (Janette Scott) threatens to expose his derring-don’t when marital relations flounder.
The writers try to embrace the zeitgeist by giving her a fair share of zingers but – whoops! – pratfall into casual racism – Reggie returns from the desert where he has “gone native” (ie turned sexist boor). Still, TT is on song, wringing every last drop of serpentine charm from the screwball-lite script.
