The line-up: Design fairs

Bella Centre Copenhagen

DesignTrade Copenhagen

Expect all things sleek and Scandi, from beautiful furniture to Copenhagen candle makers and Swedish handicrafts. The great design Danes such as Bodum, founded in 1944, will also be at the fair; many of the Danish exhibitors have been in business since the 1950s. Food stalls will be plying local treats such as honey cakes and boiled sweets. August 28-30.

Cornwall Design Fair

In the glorious gardens of Trereife House, this three-day showcase of talents from the southwest offers a chance to see local furniture makers such as Bark Studio, Falmouth-based ceramicist Tim Lake and six new young Cornish designers alongside work from students at Penwith College. August 16-18.

London Design Festival

Back for its 11th year, the LDF will again fill every pore of London with design, from a giant Escher-like staircase outside St Paul’s to the return of key showcases such as 100 per cent Design, Design Junction and Tent. At the V&A, designers Scholten & Baijings will dress a room as a “lived-in” space, with a vacated dinner table echoing its human participants.
