David Holder, 43, is chairman of Ladurée and vice-chairman of Groupe Holder SAS, a 122-year-old French business group. The company operates its own network of bakery/pastry shops and restaurants as well as international franchises and subsidiaries. Ladurée recently opened its first US outpost in New York.

I’m travelling a lot and like to have bespoke because it’s like a second skin. For example, I like a wider bootleg cut in my suit pants. I don’t care if it’s fashion or not; I feel better that way. I’m quite thin so I want my jackets fitted, but unlined – my style is relaxed. Off the rack, I like YSL. It fits well on my tall frame.

I have a wider foot so it’s easier to have them made bespoke. Again, because I travel so much, my shoes are very light and flexible. I don’t like lace-ups, I just like easy. Most of my shoes are different shades of brown. Black is depressing.

I love this Dior Chiffre Rouge design; the elements on the dial are inspired by what Monsieur Dior himself liked. I love Patek Philippe; it’s the Rolls-Royce of watches as far as the mechanisms go. I have a collection of Rolex watches for leisure. I like big watches with substance.

Glasses by Moscot

I look at sunglasses as eye sculpture – it gives your outfit that final look. I love Moscot for the shapes they have. I enjoy their vintage 1950s and 1960s frames. I have the big shades like John Lennon’s. The image I have is linked to what I represent; French luxuries and chic.

Rings by Chrome Hearts

My wedding band is from Chrome Hearts. I’m the opposite from my father, who is a classic dresser. I’ve loved rings for a long time; I have a big collection of skull rings. It’s not so easy for men; they can have a watch and a ring and that’s it.
