Shanghai business school Ceibs has appointed marketing and strategy expert George Yip to its faculty. Prof Yip will take up the position when he steps down as dean of the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University in the Netherlands, a position he has held since 2008.

Prof Yip previously taught at London Business School and Cambridge’s Judge Business School in the UK and at UCLA, Georgetown and Harvard in the US, as well as RSM. A native of Vietnam he holds joint US and UK citizenship.

The appointment is one of the first made by Ceibs dean John Quelch. “Professor Yip’s arrival at Ceibs is just the latest signal that Ceibs is becoming the number one school of choice in Asia for serious scholars of international business,” says Prof Quelch.

Meanwhile Bundesbank president Axel Weber is expected to become a visiting professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business when he steps down from his position at the Bundesbank, probably at the end of April. At Chicago Booth he will teach courses in central banking to MBA students.
