Bauhaus 1919-1933: Workshops for Modernity is the first large-scale exhibition on the influential German art school to be held at New York’s Museum of Modern Art since 1938. The theme will be the spirit of inquiry that characterised the artists’ creations and the display will feature figures such as Wassily Kandinsky, Walter Gropius and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy. The works of lesser-known but innovative Bauhaus students will also appear. Exhibits include furniture, architecture, graphics, photography, textiles, ceramics, painting and sculpture.
