Possibly the only Uruguayan Ear, Nose and Throat specialist to have won an Oscar, Jorge Drexler here widens his palette from his usual condomble, milango and murga to take in the full spectrum of South American sounds.

Caetano Veloso adds vocals to “Bolivia”, which tells the story of Drexler’s father escaping the “rat’s nest” of Berlin in 1939.

The summery “Universos Paralelos” has a verse of whispered Chilean rap from Ana Tijoux.
