DesignMiami/Basel: the design fair gets expansive

Some 50 galleries from 13 countries will bring in great international names in design while a special programme has been launched for large-scale works

This year’s edition of DesignMiami/Basel launches a new Design at Large programme, curated by Dennis Freedman, creative director of Barneys New York, for large-scale work. And beware the strange forms of this year’s design commission: Jamie Zigelbaum – also New York-based – will create “Triangular Series”, an installation of throbbing light-filled stalactite-like tetrahedra, reactive to approaching visitors.

Also in the mix: some 50 galleries from 13 countries bringing great international names in design, whose themes include work that looks from west to east, engages with contemporary sculpture, or celebrates ancient materials.
