Nouvelle Vague: Version Française

Nouvelle Vague reinterpret New Wave classics with quasi-Brazilian bossa nova cool. After three albums working their way through the British post-punk songbook, they now turn their sights on their own French equivalent.

The best-known of the originals were probably Les Rita Mitsouko and Mano Negra, both covered here, but lesser lights, such as Rouen’s Les Dogs, also play their part. Strummed guitars and icily-chic vocals eventually cloy.
