2012 Ingenuity Awards: The winners

The city is a laboratory for invention, with each generation, each community, each neighbourhood reinventing and reworking existing ideas of organisation, sociability and business. That invention and innovation might come from local government or international organisations, it might come from the business sector, the third sector or non-governmental organisations, or it might come from the communities themselves.

The FT/Citi Ingenuity Awards: Urban Ideas in Action are designed to recognise and reward the freshest and brightest of that inventiveness. The award programme, now in its second year, aims to build on the first year’s success to spotlight the very best of urban ingenuity, wherever in the world it comes from.
