Real estate specialist François Ortalo-Magné has been appointed to the dean’s position at the Wisconsin School of Business, part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, north-west of Chicago.
At 43 years old, Prof Ortalo-Magné is one of the youngest deans on the US business school circuit. He will also be one of the more international: he has been employed by the London School of Economics and held visiting appointments at London Business School and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a visiting professor at HEC in Paris, and in 2010 he orchestrated a partnership with three top business schools - Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Incae in Costa Rica, and HEC Paris - for Wisconsin School of Business to train their students in real estate.
UW-Madison Chancellor Biddy Martin described Prof Ortalo-Magné as having “intellectual energy and ambition to help the School of Business reach new levels. I am impressed by his work on the international front and am confident that he will consolidate and enhance the gains made under Mike Knetter’s leadership.”
