Building on its strengths in the market for Executive MBAs - MBAs for working managers - Columbia Business School in New York is to launch MBA Saturday, a version of the programme that is clearly targeted towards New York’s working professionals.
Columbia’s existing New York-based programme runs on Friday and Saturday every two weeks , and so requires employers to give managers time off to study. The new programme meets every week on a Saturday, so is suitable for students who are studying for an EMBA with a view to changing employers. The programme lasts for 24 months.
“EMBA Saturday in particular will solve the dilemma facing exceptional talent in competitive industries,” says Ethan Hanabury, senior associate dean for degree programmes at Columbia. “Now these top achievers can pursue an MBA without forfeiting a hard-earned spot in a top firm and without having to secure corporate sponsorship.”
Columbia also runs highly ranked EMBA programmes with London Business School and the Haas school at Berkeley in San Francisco.
The programme will begin in May 2011, with an application deadline of February.
