For those who have grown up with Jesse and Céline – from their first encounter as twenty-somethings under the Viennese sky in 1995’s Before Sunrise, to their reunion in Paris in 2004’s Before Sunset – it has been a long wait for this third instalment.
Since then, the charmingly loquacious duo have been together and are holidaying in Greece with their daughters. Ethan Hawke’s Jesse may be a bit more ragged, Julie Delpy’s Céline a little rounder, and their once circuitously flirtatious conversations may have given way to a fondness for bickering but they remain by far the most engaging screen pairing of recent years. Delightful.
