Named after the iron ridge near Bob Dylan’s Minnesota birthplace, Tom Russell’s new album also broods on the tragic comedown from Hollywood celebrity and the Mexican borderlands. It is bookended by nods to Dylan (from the opening quote of “Don’t Think Twice” to a histrionic “A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall”. Calexico and Lucinda Williams bring the Southwestern colour all back home.
