Balham and The Priory in pictures

For a while, The Priory in Balham, south London, was the most famous house in the capital. It was here that one of the most sensational murder cases of the Victorian era took place, a crime that remains unsolved to this day. Over the years Balham has changed from a rural, outlying district to a highly desirable area, popular with City high-flyers seeking big gardens, good schools and first-class transport links.
