Oysterband’s best albums tend to follow in the wake of their periodic collaborations with June Tabor, and this more or less follows the pattern. The opening tracks are easy on the ear, with robust violin melodies harking back to their origins as a dance band, but lyrically unremarkable. Then a dark version of the traditional ‘Once I Had A Sweetheart’ adds depth; and ‘No Ordinary Girl’ and ‘Call You Friend’ have some of the old spirit.
