Insead professor tipped as next dean for Cambridge

Insead professor Christoph Loch has emerged as the frontrunner to become the next director (dean) of the Judge Business School at Cambridge University. The university is expected to make the announcement in the next two weeks.

Prof Loch is a specialist in the management of product innovation, an area in which Cambridge University as a whole has a strong reputation. The commercialisation of innovation and entrepreneurship are two areas in which the Judge is building traction. From September, for example, the school will run a postgraduate diploma in entrepreneurship to help give business know-how to people with great ideas.

Prof Loch would succeed Arnoud De Meyer, who announced his decision to quit the Judge more than a year ago. He became president of Singapore Management University last summer, after just four years at Cambridge. Like Prof Loch, he was previously a leading academic at Insead.

Prof Loch, who is German, lists his academic interests as technology strategy, project selection, concurrent engineering, project management under high uncertainty, and performance measurement.
