Norman Gilbertson, 93 has been “mixed up in Greece” for almost 70 years since being sent to the country as an aid worker after the second world war. In 1960 he bought a barren plot of 4,000 sq metres on a cliff top at Kokkino Limanaki near the port of Rafina but never got around to doing anything with the site. It wasn’t until the late 1980s that Gilbertson and his second wife finally decided to build a home and garden on the magical spot, the results of which can be seen here.
