Juergen Teller made his name as a fashion and commercial photographer in the late 1990s thanks to a series of provocative nudes and stark images of artists and models, including Kate Moss and Vivienne Westwood. But a new show of his work at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts shows a more personal side to the German-born photographer.

Teller was inspired to photograph the local woods near to his childhood home in Erlangen, Germany, after turning his lens a few years ago on the landscape of Suffolk, where he rents a house with his family. The photograph above, ‘Pettitoe, Suffolk 2011’, was taken at that country house and is on display alongside his better-known fashion and commercial work.

‘Juergen Teller: Woo’ is on show at the ICA, London SW1, from January 23 until March 17 www.ica.org.uk
