Slideshow of Glasgow’s new urban park

An overgrown waste ground in the city’s east end is being transformed into an urban park to help improve the health of local residents

Cuningar Loop is a peninsula of land formed by a hairpin loop in the river Clyde. It is a part of Glasgow’s east end with a colourful and varied history and now, thanks to this year’s Commonwealth Games, a new future. As one of the key legacy projects of the games, it will use horticulture, woodland and nature to promote healthy living and the “re-wilding” of the local population.
