The fellowship was established in memory of Nico Colchester, who died in 1996, after an outstanding career at the Financial Times, The Economist and The Economist Intelligence Unit.
Fellowship 2013: What should the EU do to keep Britain in?
If you are a European journalist or would-be journalist and would like to be considered for a three-month Nico Colchester fellowship this year at the Financial Times or The Economist, then send in an 800-word article on the subject above, in English, together with a CV and covering letter.
The Nico Colchester Foundation’s aim is to help continental writers understand Britain and British writers understand continental Europe.
Two awards are thus available this year: one, for a British or Irish applicant, will consist of a fellowship in continental Europe at the Financial Times; the other, for an applicant from elsewhere in the European Union, will be in London at The Economist. You can live anywhere but you must be an EU citizen. Both winners will receive a bursary of £5,000 to cover accommodation and travel.
Entries should be sent, by the closing date of April 2nd 2013, by e-mail only to email@example.com
