Lala Njava sang for many years with her family band, the celebrated Njava. Her first solo album – recorded, again, with several relatives, and the great accordionist Régis Givazo – highlights her voice amid polyrhythmic, sliding guitars.

“Sweet Lullaby” is an acoustic revisit of a song she sang with the Belgian worldbeat outfit Deep Forest; “Pardon A L’Afrika” has a chunky percussion line.
