Georg Josef Riedel, 62, is the chief executive of Riedel, the Austrian wine glass company that created the first grape-varietal-specific glassware. He joined the family business in 1973, becoming chief executive in 1994. The company has recently expanded its markets to China.

My suit is made by my personal tailor in Munich. I started going to him after my previous tailor left, which is always painful. You build up a relationship with a tailor; then you have to start from scratch. I only ever use two shoemakers, both in Vienna. The other is Materna. My family has been using them for generations. If the soles wear out, you can return them to the shoemaker and they come back good as new, so they are a real investment.

I have many vintage watches. This one is a recent purchase: a specially made Rolex. I never wear cufflinks; they bother me immensely while I’m at work, they knock into everything. Even my dress shirts have buttoned cuffs.
