Ben Stiller, 2013
20th Century Fox
Ben Stiller is Walter Mitty, a put-upon daydreamer who works in the “negative asset” department of Life Magazine, responsible for storing slides. Life is on its last legs and for its final issue renowned photographer Sean O’Connell (Sean Penn) has selected “neg 25” for the cover – only Walter has misplaced it.
Inspired by office love interest Cheryl (Kristen Wiig), Walter wrenches himself out of his comfort zone and embarks on a hilarious, beautiful journey to Greenland and Afghanistan to recover the mystery slide. Full of digital flights of fancy, this is a delightful, life-affirming film.
