Everything gleams in this intelligent, gripping thriller set in the world of high finance and yet everything is murky – most of all morality.
Richard Gere is perfectly cast (as if in titanium) as a hedge fund boss with immaculate suit, smile and coolly confident demeanour who comes slowly and painfully unstuck after a car crash threatens to expose his illicit dealings, business and otherwise.
Gere is magnetic and repellent in equal measure, Susan Sarandon icy and explosive as his wife. First-time writer/director Nicholas Jarecki has crafted a modern noir full of unsettling grey areas.
