The prospect of curtain-up in the Arcadian surroundings of the Grange Park estate means summer is truly here. For her 2014 season Wasfi Kani has put together a characteristically tempting menu – starting with Britten’s most popular opera, in a production by Jeremy Sams, starring the suitably beefy Carl Tanner as the errant fisherman. Playing in tandem with Grimes will be La traviata (opening May 31), with Claire Rutter singing the part of Verdi’s “fallen woman”.
