Time for money market funds to help

Newspapers have been full of stories about banks’ reluctance to lend to one another in recent months as Libor and other inter-bank lending rates have remained stubbornly high.

As of late last week, three-month dollar, sterling and euro Libor rates were 78-85 basis points above overnight rates, twice the historic differential.
