Howard challenges Blair's sweeping antiterror proposals

Michael Howard has told the government to clarify its plans for sweeping new antiterror measures, saying they raised serious questions about whether they had been considered fully.

The Conservative leader wrote to Lord Falconer, the lord chancellor, calling for further details on the proposals outlined by Tony Blair last week, in particular how the government could make it easier to deport Islamist extremists who preach hatred and violence.
