Report says IRA has ended paramilitary activity

An independent report on the IRA's efforts to end its terrorist campaign on Wednesday said that the group has largely ceased paramilitary and criminal activity, paving the way for fresh talks on restoring devolved power to Northern Ireland.

“We do not believe that IRA is now engaged in terrorism ... the IRA leadership has committed itself to following the political path,” the Independent Monitoring Commission said.
