Web domain names are used to indicate type

Sir, Neil Edwards is wrong (Letters, September 27). Domain name extensions are used to indicate the type of organisation that the name refers to, not the type of content. Thus, com is for commercial, edu for educational, org for organisation and gov for governmental.
