Internet sales drive growth in retail sector

Online shopping has become the engine of retail sector growth, with internet sales accounting for almost half of the expansion in retail spending last year, according to figures published today.

Internet spending rose by almost 29 per cent, 15 times faster than the overall retail sector, which grew just 1.5 per cent, one of the slowest rates in modern times, Verdict Research says.
