UBS in fresh DoJ deal delay

UBS and the US Department of Justice failed on Friday to reach an agreement on an out-of-court settlement of their battle over access to client names, but said they hoped to have a deal by the middle of next week.

The failure to reach an agreement, which came after the Swiss market closed, will hit investor confidence in UBS. The Swiss bank’s shares had staged a modest recovery this week on hopes that a deal would be unveiled on Friday.
