London's health authorities warn overspend of up to £400m likely

Health authorities in and around London are reporting likely overspends of almost £400m when the financial year ends next month, with the position in some areas worsening rather than improving.

Board papers for January and February report several warnings of possible shortages of cash with which to pay staff and suppliers next month, with North West London Strategic Health Authority reporting that there is a "national cash shortfall" in the National Health Service in England.
