Rome offers to relax Alitalia conditions

The Italian government on Tuesday offered to relax its conditions for privatising Alitalia as the loss-making national airline was hit by labour unrest that forced the cancellation of almost 400 flights.

The government, which owns 49.9 per cent of Alitalia, said it was willing to sell its entire stake to the winner of the contest to buy the state-owned carrier.
