Ex-UnitedHealth CEO gives back $600m

Dr William McGuire, former chief executive of insurer UnitedHealth Group, will pay back more than $600m in compensation in the first individual “clawback” settlement under the Sarbanes-Oxley anti-fraud law.

The Securities and Exchange Commission, the US regulator, said on Thursday that Dr McGuire had agreed to settle allegations that he backdated options to boost his compensation from 1994-2005.
