EU plan for services ‘would increase jobs’

The European Union’s controversial plans to liberalise the services industry would create up to 600,000 jobs, raise productivity and reduce prices for consumers, according to a study conducted for the European Commission.

The study claims the proposal would boost employment in all EU countries, contradicting fears among richer member states that the law would benefit only lightly regulated states with a low-wage workforce.
